Traditional Moroccan rugs are handwoven by the Berber Tribes where the carpets get their name. The Berber people typically reside in Morocco and are known for their craftsmanship and artefacts. The rugs are recognised by their colour and design and are from various region and tribes such as Atlas, Beni Ourain, Azilal, Taznakt, Talsint, Boujad. Moroccan Berber rugs have a unique native and straightforward designs which often looks like a modern art since every piece is made individually without any graph or set plan. Berber carpets are notable for their natural white and ivory tones with a high comfortable pile, and the majority uses natural vegetable dyes. Some are incredibly colourful which makes them a great candidate to tie in with most colour schemes. These rugs were woven with wool from the sheep of the Atlas mountains and combine a blend of traditional and contemporary style ensuring they will work well with both traditional and modern interiors. Although a Moroccan carpet has inspired this design, it has been woven in India. Generally, Moroccan rugs are semi-old and come in various sizes long and narrow. We have taken a few designs and altered them to fit today's decor in practical sizes.

The Story Behind the Persian Carpet

The Persian carpet is an essential part of Persian art and culture. Carpet-weaving is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished manifestations of Persian culture and art. Iran is also the world's largest producer and exporter of handmade carpets, producing three quarters of the world's total output. The art of carpet weaving existed in Iran in ancient times, according to evidence such as the 2500-year-old Pazyryk carpet, dating back to 500 B.C., during the Achaemenid period. Wool is the most common material for carpets but cotton is frequently used for the foundation of city and workshop carpets. There is a wide variety in types of wool used for weaving.
